Vivo V27 is a good mid-range smartphone with all the hardware prowess, an amazing 50MP+8MP+2MP triple primary camera with PDAF and OIS, an excellent 50MP selfie camera, and a large battery capacity makes for a good combination.

Without further ado, let’s now scrutinize the Vivo Y27, which is available for the cheap as per below:

  • 6.64-inch Full HD+ IPS screen with 1080 x 2388 pixels or ~395 ppi density
  • Glass front, plastic frame, plastic back
  • 600 nits (peak) brightness
  • Mediatek MT6769 Helio G85 (12nm) chipset, Octa-core (2x2.0 GHz Cortex-A75 & 6x1.8 GHz Cortex-A55) processor, Mali-G52 MC2 graphics and 6GB RAM
  • Dual primary camera: 50MP with f/1.8 aperture, (wide) and PDAF + 2MP with f/2.4 aperture, (depth), LED flash and panorama
  • 8MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and (wide)
  • 128GB internal storage with no expansion slot
  • Non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery with Fast battery charging 44W, 29% in just 15 minutes, Reverse wired charging
  • Android 13 operating system
  • Dual-sim and 4G LTE
  • July 20th 2023 release date
  • 699 Ringgit Malaysia or ~155 USD price tag

The significant price reduction in the Y27 means a lot of stuff that needs to be sacrificed. Coming in with a large 6.64-inch IPS screen with a Full HD+ resolution, there’s practically plastic all over its body. However, the high 600 nits peak brightness lets you watch the screen under the hot sun without any hiccups.

Under the hood of the Y27 is a comfortable mid-range performer in the form of the Helio G85 chipset, a decently fast Cortex octa-core processor, good graphics and 6GB of memory. It does come with a memory booster, that can add an additional 6GB of memory, so you should be able to run most apps and games just fine.

Moving on to the camera side of things, the 50MP+2MP dual primary camera is more than capable to meet all your daily shots, although not too great but not too shabby either. With phase detection autofocus (PDAF) but no OIS, your shots might get blurry especially while you are taking pictures while on the move. It still allows for stunning details and some incredible night shots. Then we have the 8MP selfie camera making the package complete.

Storage-wise, the 128GB of internal storage is sufficient enough to install your favorite apps and games. With no expansion slot, you would have to do some spring cleaning every now and then.

Sporting a large 5000 mAh battery, the Y27 can easily supply the necessary juice for a good day or two of battery life. Then we have the 44W fast charging feature which can easily take it up to 29% of charge in just 15 minutes.

Finally, we have the latest Android 13 operating system and dual sim capability. But do take note that there’s no 5G, if that’s a deal-breaker for you.

Conclusion:

Vivo Y27 is a good mid-range smartphone that meets your basic needs with its large 6.64-inch IPS screen, good 50MP dual primary camera, decent 8MP selfie camera, large 128GB internal storage, huge 5000 mAh battery, and the latest Android operating system. Just be aware of the unavailability of 5G, if that’s something of a must for you.

Vivo Y27 had just been released a few days ago in Malaysia with a price tag of 699 Ringgit Malaysia or ~155 USD. There are two colors available: Burgundy Black and Sea Blue.
